Cozy Bedroom Ideas That Are the Most Cocooning Sleeping Quarters

TEXTURAL TOUCHES

This nestlike California house boasts a primary room with soft fabrics and earthy tones. To add softness, Garrett Hunter hung a Tienda X Gallery antique tapestry behind his bed. The mossy blanket is a perfect invitation to burrow.

RUSTIC REIMAGINED

This charming cottage upstairs room is the definition of homey. This is where we spend our weekends with a good book and a custom-made bed by Nate McKean. An antique Tabriz carpet and a cute stuffed deer complement a Gothic Revival chandelier by Cafiero Select.

STATEMENT WALL

Matthew Harris, jewelry designer and owner of a 1,000-square-foot pied à terre in Lisbon wanted his flat to be immediately welcoming. “It almost hugged you,” says Harris. This bedroom perfectly exemplifies this ethos with its grooved-oak walls and floating night tables. With its whiter-than-white Matteo linens and gold Gubi pendant adding a touch of modernity, this bedroom would have us call it home at the end of every day.

ROMANTIC LAYERS

The primary bedroom of a mansion from the 19th century in Lisbon is a masterclass in relaxation. Elad Yafrach, the founder of L’Objet, wanted to create a primary bedroom that would be a “palate cleanser” after a day of visual stimulation. Mark Alexander covered The walls with a neutral grasscloth, which scatters light like an overexposed photograph.

A LAYERED LANDING PAD

Designer Nancy Evars started designing this room with a cozy carpet and matching upholstered bed. “A cozy spot to rest your head and place your feet is necessary,” she says. Evars added fabric drapery to woven shades for an even more cozy look.

SERENITY STYLIZED

The New York apartment of late decorating legend Suzanne Rheinstein is a low-key, big-city bedroom. It’s achieved with a combination of grays, creams, and taupes. Hollyhock’s iron beds are covered in Yves Delorme linens and are encased in a cotton-silk canopy. The symmetry of the antique Italian and French side tables (left) creates a calm atmosphere, regardless of how chaotic New York’s streets may be.

Pink Panache

Lee Radziwill’s eye for soothing colors will have you rethinking pink. The elegant Parisian bedroom’s break from patterns on patterns in the home provides much-needed calm. The contrast between the white voile shams and the coarse linen headboard is striking. The cherry on the top is the Modenature bedding and bench.

Order of Events by Automated Computer

This room in the modern residence of Lagos, Nigeria, has all the characteristics of a comfortable landing place. Plush carpeting, anyone? Check. Check. Check. Wait, there’s still more. At a predetermined time, the television will automatically turn on to provide daily news for homeowners. All the curtains are also automated to remind you that it is time to go to bed.

BUNKERING DOWN

There’s nothing like the cozy feeling of being tucked into a corner of your ski house. These built-in bunks give off a cozy cabin feel. Alfredo Paredes completed the look of this Vermont Ski House by adding Schoolhouse Electric sconces and Pendleton bedding.

Soft to the Touch

This spacious Bridgehampton home was designed to feel like a country-style house but not rustic. The bedroom’s gray tones (light, medium, and dark) against black accents are a perfect example. Gray carpeting and Matouk sheets create a soft, inviting look.

WHITEWASH

Linda Hayslett chose plush upholstery, ambient light, and patterned curtains to warm this dream room. She chose a soft gray bed by Maiden Home and warm sconces by Circa Lighting. The walls were painted Behr’s Ultra Pure White. Sleeping on a cloud is like floating in the air.

AN AIRY GHRY

Florian Marquardt put his bed on the mezzanine of the second-floor open and brighter upstairs, where, he claims, he is “woken up” by the sun. The room also doubles as a living area, with vintage pieces like a 1955 Pierrejeanneret chair, Togo lounges, etc. The roof deck offers views of palm trees. What a great way to spend a weekend.

To the WALL, to the WINDOW

A comfortable primary bedroom can sparkle with humor and curiosity. Sara Tayeb Khalifa’s Manhattan Apartment is a perfect getaway. Tayeb Khalifa’s bedroom was designed to resemble a fantasy garden, complete with teal and purple painted walls in Farrow & Ball Rangwali or Verdigris Green. This colorful, eclectic room is full of energy.

TRANSITIONAL TEXAN

This bedroom in neutral tones is more significant than life. It’s precisely what you would expect from a Texan hacienda. A massive Fuse Lighting pendant highlights the desaturated bedding. The vanity table with a window facing creates a feeling of retreat. It’s a place to kick off your shoes, relax and unwind.

High in the Sky

The view is suitable if your ears pop by the time you arrive. The Elle Decor Manhattan penthouse, located at 53 West 53rd Street, features a light and bright primary bedroom covered in a Phillip Jeffries wallpaper. The sconces by Maison Gerard and the bed from Campana Brothers, Edra, at DDC combine textures that create a cocooning atmosphere.

Artistic Touches

This Miami house, filled with art, proves that art belongs in more than just museums. A Summer Wheat sculpture placed at the foot of this room adds dimension and intrigue. Grace Weaver’s corresponding artworks hang above the bed to add visual interest. Poetic moments in this space create an atmosphere that encourages you to take a deep breath in and out—the safest areas.

The COLOR TREATMENT

The art world’s most renowned artists, Roy Dowell and Lari Pitman are showing us how to decorate a room with taste. In contrast to their art collection, the duo chose a muted color palette for their Los Angeles house. A Design Within Reach bed has been topped with a Moroccan coverlet. Rattan trucks accentuate the warm window treatments. Dowell’s paintings above the bed bring a fresh pop of color.
